Does Corder send my audio to the cloud?

By default, no. On Apple Silicon, transcription runs entirely on your Mac and your audio never leaves it. On a paid plan you can switch to cloud transcription for tougher audio; those chunks are sent for processing, discarded right after, and never used for training. The raw recording, the transcript, and the database always stay on your Mac. When you are offline, Corder transcribes locally.

Does the other side know I am recording?

No. Corder records the audio that already plays through your Mac. No bot joins the meeting and no notification is sent to participants. You are responsible for telling them where local law requires it, for example California or Germany.

Where does my audio live?

~/Library/Application Support/Corder/recordings/. You can browse, copy, or delete files directly in Finder. An optional Dropbox archive offloads originals to your own Dropbox if you set it up.

Yes, anything that plays through your Mac. Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime, Discord, Slack huddles, browser-based calls, even Notion or Obsidian voice notes.

Transcription works in 40+ languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Czech, Turkish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Ukrainian, and Russian. The interface is available in 20 of them.

Does it need an internet connection?

Recording works fully offline, and so does transcription on Apple Silicon. Your meeting is saved locally regardless. If a recording is set to cloud transcription and you are offline, Corder transcribes it on your Mac instead, so you are never left waiting.

macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. macOS 15+ is recommended for the best performance.

Yes. Plain text, Markdown, JSON, or one ZIP with audio plus video plus transcript. Or drag any meeting straight into Notion, Apple Notes, or Obsidian and the formatting is preserved.

Local runs on your Mac, free and unlimited, and your audio never leaves the machine. It is fast and accurate for everyday meetings. Cloud transcription, on a paid plan, catches harder accents, technical jargon, and crosstalk better. Useful for sales calls, interviews, and technical syncs.

Yes. The first 3 recordings on the Pro tier are free when you upgrade. Cancel before billing if it does not earn its keep.
